Snoop Dogg motivated to cut down his weed intake since becoming a grandfather – after his roller revealed he smokes 150 joints a day

Becoming a grandfather seems to have given Snoop Dogg a new perspective on life, as the rapper has decided to cut down on weed.

Snoop – real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr. – became a grandad in 2015 when his eldest child Cordé became a father to son Zion.

Now, there’s no denying that the music star has been very open about his appreciation for weed, having even marketed his own line of marijuana products.

From edibles to weed strains, as well as a digital media business devoted to marijuana-related news, Snoop’s lifestyle has centred around the drug for a long time – but that appears to have changed.

‘The main way is being concerned with how I live, how I move, the kind of people I’m associated with, because I want to see my grandkids grow old.’

He added: ‘The only way I can do that is to take precautionary steps as far as how I move, who I hang out with, where I go out, my intake, what am I intaking?

‘Am I doing extra-curricular or am I just doing what I’m supposed to be doing?’

However, it might take some time for Snoop to fully cut down on weed, if that’s his intention, given that he’s thought to have smoked 150 joints a day.

The figure is according to his full-time blunt roller, Renegade Piranha, who earns more than $50,000 (£40.2k) annually just to roll them.

Yes, really.

Back in October, she told Australian radio show The Kyle and Jackie O Show that her boss likes to smoke about half a pound a day of marijuana each day.

That works out at 75 to 150 joints.

‘I calculate it at over 450,000,’ she said when estimating the number of joints she’s rolled over the years for Snoop.

It might go without saying, but smoking 150 joints a day can have significant health problems.

The NHS, and several other studies over time, have explained that cannabis use can be linked to mental health problems such as anxiety, paranoia, and panic attacks.

While cannabis can make people feel temporarily relaxed or giggly, it poses long term risks such as lung damage, dental issues, memory loss, reduction in fertility, as well as an increased risk of long-term physical health conditions.

Using cannabis often, from a young age, and smoking large amounts makes dependency more likely and increases the risks of health complications.

But, in much lighter news, it seems being a grandad has mellowed Snoop in other ways – and do we sense a possible career change?

Yep, in headlines no one saw coming, the US star professed a love for Coronation Street and expressed a desire to head to the cobbles himself.

He told The Sun: ‘Coronation Street, I love it. If they call me, I’ll do it. I’ll play whenever they need. I love the cinematography, acting, the storylines and just the reality’.

Honestly, we’re kinda here for it.
