Blue Ivy Carter has been defended by fans after Beyoncé revealed the youngster saw negative comments made by trolls about her first performance.
The singer, 42, revealed that Blue Ivy’s dance routine segment was meant to be a one-off performance – with even that taking some persuading.
Beyoncé said in the Renaissance film, which premiered in Los Angeles on Saturday: ‘She [Blue Ivy] told me she was ready to perform, and I told her no.’
The Crazy in Love singer – who also has twins twins Rumi and Sir, six, with husband Jay-Z, 53 – was disappointed after learning Blue Ivy, 11, had seen negative comments about her ‘uninspired’ moves.
Some critics claimed her moves were too ‘stiff’, with one saying: ‘I’m sorry but Blue Ivy isn’t doing it for me on these tours. It’s giving I’m a star because my mom’s famous not because I’m actually good.’

Disheartened: After letting her eldest daughter perform in Paris, Beyoncé was dismayed to discover that Blue Ivy had been reading negative comments about her performance
Backlash: Trolls took to X, formerly known as Twitter to critique the 11-year-old, who had performed in front of 80,000 people for the first time

But Beyoncé said she was elated when her daughter did not throw in the towel, in fact the trolls only spurred her on to work harder.
Although impressed with Blue Ivy’s resilience, fans have taken to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that ‘trauma’ should not be used to encourage children.
‘Folks really got on here talking about this child like she couldn’t see it,’ wrote one supporter.
‘I’m happy that Blue Ivy used it as motivation but children shouldn’t have to use trauma as a fuel when they should be allowed to just be.’
A second penned: ‘Bullying a child should never be okay. Children, even Blue Ivy, should never have to be resilient in the face of trauma.
‘Children should be allowed to just be free.’
Another chimed in: ‘This upsets me so much!!! That baby saw your comments about her! Y’all are disgusting!!! Shaming an eleven year old when y’all stutter presenting in front of ten people!!!’
Blue Ivy knowing & reading you all’s comments about her breaks my heart. She’s just a kid,’ said a fourth.
Power: The mother-of-three shared in her Renaissance film that she was impressed Blue did not quit and used the negative comments to spur her forward (pictured in London on June 4)
‘She’s just a kid’: Fans were quick to jump to Blue Ivy’s defence after hearing Beyoncé revelation, adding a child should not have to use ‘trauma as fuel’
‘I know y’all are twisting this to show that she’s “resilient,” but we do need to realise that no child should have to be resilient. The way y’all discuss & treat kids are disturbing.’
Blue Ivy made her debut on the Renaissance World Tour in Paris on May 26, cutting shapes to the songs My Power and Black Parade.
Beyoncé took to her Instagram to congratulate her eldest child on her performance, posting a series of pictures of the aspiring dancer.
She captioned the flurry of pictures: ‘My beautiful first born. I’m so proud and thankful to be your mama. You bring us so much joy, my sweet angel.’
Blue Ivy’s grandmother also shared her pride regarding the preteen’s debut appearance, posting to Instagram.
The 69-year-old wrote: ‘Last night I saw my beautiful grandbaby (11) dance in front of almost 70 thousand people!
‘She killed it and was as cool as a cucumber! Blue Ivy Carter.’
