No one can deny that Courteney Cox and Jennifer Aniston have been through a lot together.

Recently, with the death of their castmate and close friend Matthew Perry, the pair have been heavily leaning on each other, as well as the rest of the Friends cast, and that can be seen in the post Courteney Cox just made for Jennifer Aniston’s birthday.

With a very emotional caption and a beautiful clip featuring their late colleague, Courteney honored her close friend on her 55th birthday.

Although the whole Friends cast remained very close during and after making the show, the friendship between Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox is truly one of a kind. These two amazingly talented women have supported each other through the years, celebrating each other’s successes and, more recently, mourning a difficult loss.

For Jennifer’s birthday on February 11, Courteney made an emotional Instagram post, which included a picture of the two of them back in the Friends years, another one of them nowadays, and a sweet clip of Jennifer and Matthew Perry as Rachel and Chandler in Friends.

In it, she pouted and said, “Chandler, Monica just broke my seashell lamp”, a line that Courteney always found endearing for some reason.

“Not sure why this is one of my favorite clips… I guess it’s because nobody else in the world could make this line sound so cute,” she wrote in the caption. “Happy Birthday my sweet Jenny Louise. Also don’t know why I call her that…but I sure do love you.”

Jennifer saw the post immediately and replied “You BROKE IT! I love you.”

Jennifer Aniston’s 55th birthday came just months after the Friends cast suffered a life-changing loss. The whole world mourned Matthew Perry’s loss, but of course it was harder for people who loved him as much as the Friends actors did.

The cast put out a joint statement after the news of Matthew Perry’s death, saying

“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss.”

It was especially hard for Jennifer Aniston, who this death took by surprise even more than the rest of the world. “I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty,” she shared. “He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy. It’s important people know that,” the actress added.

“I want people to know he was really healthy, and getting healthy. He was on a pursuit. He worked so hard. He really was dealt a tough one. I miss him dearly. We all do. Boy, he made us laugh really hard. I hope he can know that he was loved in a way he never thought he was.”

Recently, when she celebrated her birthday, Jennifer Aniston posted a video of different moments in her life and posted a poem called The Layers by Stanley Kunitz, captioned with the word “Grateful.”

Among the sadness, it’s great to see that the Friends have each other’s backs and support each other during this difficult time.
