Mzansi Youth Choir’s Emotional Tribute to Nightbirde Brings ‘AGT’ Judge Simon Cowell to Tears with Golden Buzzer Moment

The season premiere of America’s Got Talent featured an emotional tribute to Nightbirde (Jane Marczewski), with the Mzansi Youth Choir performing her original song “It’s OK.” Judge Simon Cowell, visibly moved, expressed the significance of the tribute, noting Nightbirde’s passion for sharing her music.

The live audience passionately called for a Golden Buzzer, a first-time event, and all judges, including Howie Mandel, joined host Terry Crews in hitting it. This historic moment means the Mzansi Youth Choir advances directly to the live shows.

Cowell, who had given Nightbirde a Golden Buzzer in a previous season, acknowledged the global impact of her story.

The choir chose “It’s OK” to continue Nightbirde’s legacy, emphasizing its role as a pillar of strength for them.

Nightbirde withdrew from AGT in a prior season due to her health, and she passed away on February 19, 2021, at the age of 31. The tribute underscored the enduring impact of Nightbirde’s music and spirit on AGT.
