Nigerian Musician Rema Reacts After Electric Performance at Ballon D’Or Awards

Nigerian Afrobeats singer, Rema has expressed excitement after thrilling spectators at the 67th Ballon d’Or awards in Paris on Monday night.

Rema delivered an energy-filled performance as footballers, former players and fans were entertained at the Theatre du Chatelet.

The Calm Down singer took to social media to share his gratitude after meeting the stars of world football through his music.

“Afrobeat in Ballon d’Or! I’m truly grateful for the opportunity. Glory to the most high for the grace,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.
During his performance, popular American YouTuber, IshowSpeed could not help but dance to the soothing voice of Rema.

This is the second major sporting event stage that Rema has performed on in 2023, with the first being at the NBA All-Star Game.

Meanwhile, Argentina and Inter Miami star Lionel Messi was crowned the 2023 Ballon d’Or winner after beating Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe to the gong, as reported by ESPN.

However, Haaland walked home with the Gerd Muller Award while Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham scooped the Kopa Trophy.

Manchester City and Barcelona Femini were named the Men and Female Team of the Year respectively.

IShowspeed jams to Rema’s performance

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that American YouTuber, IShowSpeed enjoyed the performance by Rema at the Ballon d’Or ceremony as he was spotted dancing to the hit song, Calm Down.

Rema thrilled spectators in Paris with an energetic performance as the best players in the world were awarded at the 67th awards gala.

In a video shared on social media, Speed was seen bumping his head as he moved his body in sync with Rema’s moves.

Sports Brief also reported that Afrobeats superstar Divine Ikubor, known professionally as Rema performed at the 2023 Ballon d’Or, held at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, France on Monday, October 30.

The event was organised by France Football and was filled with several football stars from past and present.

The ‘Bounce‘ crooner has performed at various stages this year, including the 2023 NBA All-Stars game.
