Anthony Joshua’s trainer Robert Garcia says a ‘Mike Tyson style’ is the only way to beat Oleksandr Usyk

Anthony Joshua’s trainer Robert Garcia believes there is no-one in the heavyweight division with the style to beat Oleksandr Usyk.

When he looked back in history, however, Garcia picked out former undisputed champion, Mike Tyson, as the man with the perfect style to overcome the masterful boxing skills of Usyk.

“Man, Usyk is very difficult,” Garcia told FightHype.

“I don’t even know if there is any heavyweight that fights like that, but if we had a fighter like the old Mike Tyson, I think that style is probably the one that beats Usyk.

“But we don’t have anybody like that in the heavyweight division.

“As for the top guys, I don’t think there’s anyone who fights like Mike Tyson did, so maybe it’s going to be hard to find someone to beat him.”

This will not be good news for Tyson Fury, who is hoping to take on Usyk early next year in a battle for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world.ư

Although Fury himself does not seem to think Usyk poses much of a threat, as he believes he is a “bigger, better version” of the Ukrainian, who he has repeatedly described as a “middleweight”.

For the time being, it does not matter anyway, as both Fury and Usyk have their sights set on other challenges.

Fury is currently embroiled in negotiations with his fellow British heavyweight, Anthony Joshua, and it seems that talks are progressing rapidly.

Joshua has recently accepted all terms from Fury, including a 60/40 split in favour of ‘The Gypsy King’, with the fight set to take place on December 3 and now contracts are being drawn up.

As for Usyk, he is also looking to get back in the ring sooner rather than later and he has named Deontay Wilder as his next target, should he come through his upcoming fight against Robert Helenius on October 15.
