Brooklyn Beckham makes dig at wife Nicola Peltz as he reveals how dad David inspires date nights

Brooklyn Beckham has taken a cheeky little swipe at his wife while revealing how his passion for cooking came about.

The former aspiring photographer, 24, doesn’t just look like his famous father David Beckham but also follows in his dad’s footsteps when it comes to romance, with Brooklyn admitting he uses food to woo spouse Nicola Peltz – just like dad David does with Victoria Beckham.

But while David has never taken aim at Posh Spice’s cooking skills, despite confessing sadness over her restricted diet of fish and vegetables, Brooklyn isn’t afraid to throw a few culinary jibes his other half’s way – branding billionaire heiress Nicola a “terrible cook” in his latest interview.

Sharing his culinary secrets over the weekend, Brooklyn revealed how his dad inspired him to get in the kitchen and admitted he is the sole cook in his marriage – declaring that Bates Motel actress Nicola can’t “cook to save her life”.

Ahead of his pop-up UberEats restaurant opening this week, Brooklyn took to the kitchen and whipped up a pasta dish. Admitting he’s tried to guide Nicola when it comes to cooking, Brooklyn says in the promotional video: “My pasta is perfect for date night, it’s something I’ve cooked for my wife on our date nights, something that my dad has cooked for my mum. My favourite food is comfort food. I taught my wife how to make pasta. Yeah she really enjoys it.”

In his recent interview with the Sunday Times, Brooklyn revealed the first thing he ever learned to cook was a packet of Super Noodles and admitted he is still yet to take a cooking class. He explained: “Unfortunately, I’ve never done, like, a cooking class, but I’m obsessed with watching MasterClass [online classes with experts in their field]. I’ve always loved that. I’ve been lucky enough to do videos and hang out with all these different types of chefs, learning different things, like [the renowned US baker] Nancy Silverton, who is one of my favourite chefs. She’s a really cool person.”

Having dabbled in numerous jobs over time, Brooklyn seems to have finally found long-lasting joy in cooking tutorials. Son to an internationally acclaimed footballer, Brooklyn had an unsuccessful attempt at football himself when he didn’t secure a scholarship to remain in Arsenal’s youth team in 2015.

It was then time for Brooklyn to try his hand at photography, but that didn’t pan out either. The budding chef had an incredible chance to work as an assistant to renowned fashion photographer Rankin but his time there was marred by rumours that the regular crew were surprised at his lack of ability. His stint at Parsons School of Design also ended prematurely when he decided to quit and end his studies early.

“I really enjoyed [photography] for a couple of years. I love taking pictures of my wife. I still have all my film cameras, but now it’s just more of a fun thing to do. They were kind of all hobbies,” he shared with Variety in 2022. Brooklyn then revealed that he’s found his true passion – cooking.

“I was still trying to find that one thing I would literally die for, and I found that with cooking,” he confessed while reflecting on his diverse career. He also had a message for those who criticise him: “I always wish them well, the haters,” he stated. “I’m just doing what I love doing, staying healthy, being happy, and that’s what it is. I hope they like my next video.”
