David Beckham praises the ‘loving’ royal family after Queen Elizabeth’s funeral
David Beckham praised the “loving” royal family following the emotional funeral for Queen Elizabeth II on Monday.
“Our Queen is home… Today we said a final farewell to Her Majesty The Queen. This week the world has mourned the loss of a unique, inspirational & caring leader,” Beckham wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of the late monarch’s casket.
He continued, “People from all walks of life came together in their thousands to show gratitude for our beloved Queen. Alongside the incredible ceremony and tradition we have watched a loving family grieve for a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother with dignity and dedication.”
The former athlete, 47, concluded the heartfelt post by saying the late queen’s “legacy of service and devotion to duty will endure,” adding, “long live the King.”

Beckham previously noted on social media that how “devastated” he was following Queen Elizabeth II’s death on Sept. 8 at the age of 96.
“I’m truly saddened by the death of Her Majesty, The Queen. What an outpouring of love and respect we saw for the Platinum Jubilee for her life of service,” he wrote in part on Instagram. “How devastated we all feel today shows what she has meant to people in this country and around the world.”

On Friday, the legendary soccer player waited in line for over 12 hours to say goodbye to the late queen, who reigned for over 70 years, as she lay in Westminster Hall. He tried to lift the spirits of those around him as onlookers say he bought doughnuts for people.
Once he reached the Queen’s casket, he was seen wiping away tears before bowing his head.

Beckham was able to stay under the radar for the first couple of hours, but fans started to recognize the star and ask for pictures as the sun came up — which he apparently declined until he had “paid his respects to Her Majesty.”
“I was so lucky I was able to have a few moments in my life to be around Her Majesty,” Beckham told ITV News while waiting in line. “A sad day but it’s a day to remember the incredible legacy she left.”

Many people praised Beckham on social media for choosing to wait in line rather than use his privileges as a celebrity to cut ahead.
“Without being all ‘Wah, it’s actually hard to be a celebrity,’ for David Beckham to come alone, and queue for ten hours, when everyone would recognise him, is pretty ballsy. GOLDENBALLSY,” one person tweeted.
“I love that he did this, and didn’t choose the sleb fast track,” another added.
The famous athlete had met the Queen numerous times and was even appointed Beckham OBE, an order of chivalry, by the late sovereign for his services to British soccer in 2003.
