Lily Allen ends 16-year long feud with Victoria Beckham after ‘fame obsessed’ dig

Lily Allen and Victoria Beckham have put the past behind them to form a new appreciation for each other – having clashed over views about fashion in the past.

Singer-turned-actress Lily, 38 – who is currently starring in a West End production of Martin McDonagh’s play The Pillowman – has been delighting fans by posing in high end fashion outfits which she has been uploading to Instagram. The Smile singer posed in designs by Vivienne Westwood, Giorgio Armani – and dresses by Victoria Beckham herself. The 49-year-old former Spice Girl was delighted to see the younger star showcasing her designs and responded enthusiastically to her snaps. In response to one look, Vicky wrote: “Love this look on you @lilyallen!! Kisses” and had even referred to Lily as her “muse”.

The new love in is at odds with past comments from Lily about Victoria – who she slammed for relentlessly promoting high end fashion products to young, impressionable women. She ranted during an episode of This Week back in 2007: “We are bombarded with fashion mags and gossip mags with rich pop stars and Victoria Beckhams with their new handbags and kids think that’s the sort of life they should have.”

And later that same year, she gunned for Vicky again – taking aim at the Spice Girl just as she was launching her fashion designing career. Lily said at the time: “I just laugh when I see pictures of her in a magazine. I think, ‘You’re not promoting anything and you don’t need the money, so it’s all about you being famous.’ I don’t understand the need to just be famous.”

Lily’s past comments aren’t the only criticism Victoria has faced over the yers. The former singer turned fashion designer came under particularly fierce criticism in 2020 when it was revealed she had used government money to pay her staff with a furlough scheme during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Piers Morgan roasted the ex-singer at the time, saying: ”How nice it was at the weekend, with all the selfless acts, to hear Victoria Beckham is furloughing 30 staff of her failing business. Lost money year after year. Been bailed out by her famously rich husband David Beckham. Sorry, this furlough scheme was not for prima donna millionaires like you. Running a vanity project like her fashion business that makes no money.”
