Mike Tyson reveals he told Francis Ngannou to use ‘Superman punch’ on Tyson Fury and fans loved it

Mike Tyson revealed he advised Francis Ngannou to use his audacious ‘superman’ punch on Tyson Fury.

Fury landed a split decision victory over Ngannou on Saturday night in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in a fight closer than many expected.

The MMA legend did not look out of place as he took on the WBC heavyweight champion in the ring, even downing Fury in the third round.

And Ngannou showed he still had plenty of gas left in the tank with seconds to go when he went for an outrageous ‘superman’ punch in the 10th round.

As the Cameroonian came forward, he jabbed with his left hand before jumping into the air and trying to land a vicious right at Fury’s head.

Fans absolutely loved to see the 37-year-old try to pull off the punch, which has been utilised in MMA but is not strictly legal in boxing.

One fan said: “He said one time for the MMA community.”

Another wrote: “LOL this s*** had me dead if he knocked him out with it I’d die.”

While a third posted: “Francis was enjoying the fight. The guy is a winner no matter what you say mahn.”

Speaking ringside, Tyson was filmed when Ngannou went to land the blow.”Superman punch! I told him to use it,” Tyson said.

It might not be any surprise to hear that Tyson had some say over the use of such a weapon, considering his own boxing career.

Ngannou entered the ring as a huge underdog as he prepared to face Fury.

But he might feel hard done by when he was not given the win as Fury claimed a split-decision victory.

One judge ruled 95-94 in Ngannou’s favour while the other two scores read 95-94 and 96-93 to Fury.

However, despite claiming the victory, it will surely feel a hollow one for Fury.

The Gypsy King did not look the same fighter that made easy work of Deontay Wilder last year and was arguably his toughest match.

With an upcoming unifying heavyweight clash against Oleksandr Usyk in the pipeline, the Ukrainian, who was watching from the side, will not be feeling too fearful.
