Some NFL fans say they’re sick of Taylor Swift coverage during games

Out of the 11 Kansas City Chiefs games she’s been to, the team has won eight of them. The latest was a thriller against Buffalo Bills — her boyfriend Travis Kelce scored two touchdowns.

If the NFL alone is already one of the most lucrative brands in the world, the emergence of superstar Taylor Swift on the scene has presented with league with an extra special opportunity.

With the rumors of her relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, the league has an unbeatable opportunity to capture a new audience and they’ve done everything they can to do it.

After the Chiefs beat the New York Jets, the NFL’s official Instagram account changed their bio and wrote “Chiefs are 2-0 as Swifties” making obvious reference to the fact that Kansas City has won both games she has attended as Kelce’s partner.

The negative reaction to Taylor Swift
After this and other mentions of Taylor Swift on the NFL’s social media profiles, fans made known their displeasure.

“At some point this is just a little ridiculous,” was one comment about the overload of Taylor Swift content.

These fans felt the off-field relationship was taking even more importance than the games themselves.

After the bad reaction in social networks, the NFL deleted the reference to Taylor Swift from Instagram, in addition to removing her cover pH๏τo on the league’s X (Formerly Twitter) account and another reference in the bio section.

The Taylor Swift effect is undeniable
The NFL itself is profiting enormously from Swift’s image, as the Chiefs vs Jets game was the most-watched TV show in the entire United States last week, drawing 24.3 million viewers.

Plus, the average ticket price for the game jumped 40 percent after word got out that she would be present in the box, according to Forbes.

In addition, Kelce has benefited enormously. After news of his relationship with the singer, sales of his jersey have skyrocketed by 400 percent, putting him in the top five best sellers, in addition to having gained around 383,000 followers on his Instagram account.
