Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce romance rumours are just a ‘brilliant PR move’ for NFL star

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s dating rumours seemed to be confirmed when the NFL star’s brother told WIP Sports Radio that he thought the relationship was “100 percent true”. However, a PR expert doesn’t buy it.

Ryan McCormick, Co-Founder of Goldman McCormick Public Relations, told The Mirror: “I think Travis Kelce’s brother Jason made a brilliant PR move by suggesting in a radio interview that the rumors of him dating Taylor Swift were true. Travis has under a million Twitter followers compared to Swift’s 94 million.”

According to Social Blade, his following is up by 58.8% in the past month. Travis’ is also known for thriving in the limelight. In 2016, he made his personal life very public with a reality TV show called Catching Kelce.

Ryan further explained that Travis has quite a lot to gain from a rumoured fling with Taylor, no matter how fleeting the buzz lasts. He said: “Personally, I don’t think Taylor and Travis are in a relationship right now… However, if it does indeed turn out to be true, Travis will likely acquire some of Swift’s longtime fans.”

According to him, the authenticity of the relationship falls into question due to the lack of photos and public appearances together. Even if they do start to make some public displays, Ryan says that celebrity relationships truly can be staged. To tell the difference, he advises to keep an eye on the body language: “If they’re not hugging, kissing, or focusing on anything but, their phones chances are; it’s probably not love.”

Since Taylor’s love interests are a source of constant conversation for fans and haters alike, there’s no doubt that a date with the pop princess will help give an eligible bachelor a ‘popularity boost’. Depending on how long this lasts, Ryan said that “Travis’ profile with undoubtedly be enhanced. With increased visibility, new doors will open for Travis”. For example, he says that “media interviews will focus on this”.

Amid the rumours and speculation, Taylor made a major announcement, giving fans a first peek at 1989 (Taylor’s Version). She revealed the new vault track titles, including one called ‘Slut!’ which fans expect will be about the negative narrative that surrounded Taylor’s public image in the early 2010’s.
