Pop sensation Taylor Swift surprised her fans with a big reveal during the 66th Grammy Awards. Hiding a secret for two years, she finally said: “I know the way Recording Academy voted is the direct reflection of the passion of the fans, so I want to say thank you to the fans by telling you a secret that I’ve been keeping from you for the past two years which is that my brand new album comes out April 19. It’s called the Tortured Poets Department.”

Fans online roared in excitement following the announcement, as they were expecting news about a re-record of her previous album ‘Reputation’. There had been hints all day that this album was up next for a reboot.

‘Reputation’ was originally released after Taylor briefly stepped away from the public eye due to backlash from Kim and Kanye’s followers.

Kanye had referred to her in one of his songs where he stated he could “make that b**ch” famous and mentioned a possible intimate relationship with her. Following the song’s debut, Taylor publicly shared she did not approve of the lyrics.

Kim released an altered video of a phone conversation between Taylor and Kanye, implying that she agreed to the song lyrics. This made Taylor’s fans flood her comments with snake emojis, unleashing a wave of public dislike for Taylor, under the false assumption that she was ‘playing the victim.’

Her album, Reputation, marked a change in her usual sound, yet it failed to bag any Grammy awards. Years later, an unedited clip revealing that Taylor never agreed to be referred to as a “b**ch” came to light, where she’s also seen trying to dissuade Kanye from some of his release ideas.

In an interview for her Time Person of the Year Award, Taylor explained: “You have a fully manufactured frame job, in an illegally recorded phone call, which Kim Kardashian edited and then put out to say to everyone that I was a liar.

“That took me down psychologically to a place I’ve never been before. I moved to a foreign country. I didn’t leave a rental house for a year. I was afraid to get on phone calls. I pushed away most people in my life because I didn’t trust anyone anymore. I went down really, really hard.”
