Taylor Swift fans are stunned and totally convinced that she is Mariah Carey’s mum’s double.

The 33-year-old hitmaker, who has just wrapped up the first US leg of her Eras Tour, is often compared to other celebrities who share similar facial features. Some fans believe she looks like Lauren Graham, who plays the role of Lorelai Gilmore in Gilmore Girls, and others think she has some striking similarities to visual and musical artist Zeena LaVey.

But now a new celebrity has been thrown into the mix, with many fans reckoning that Taylor could have a link to Touch My Body hitmaker, Mariah Carey…

Taking to Twitter to share a photo of Mariah Carey’s mother, Patricia Carey, one Taylor Swift fan penned: “Why does Mariah Carey’s mom look like old Taylor Swift???” This post then led to hundreds of fans flocking to the comments to note how gobsmacked they were by the uncanny resemblance.

One fan commented on the tweet: “I thought it was Taylor with a filter,” while another added: “The resemblance is uncanny”. A third then offered: “She looks like the older version of Taylor in the Anti-Hero music video,” referring to the photo on a stand during the funeral home scene in the short film.

“I wonder if every time they meet, Mariah thinks Taylor Swift looks a bit like her mother,” penned someone else. Another then said: “I thought it’s Taylor Swift with AI,” while a fifth added: “Not Taylor time travelling,” and a sixth penned: “Because Mariah Carey’s mom IS old Taylor Swift. She figures out time travel and comes back to give birth to Mariah”.

This comes one week after Taylor wrapped up her first string of US shows of The Eras Tour. Last Wednesday the blonde bombshells took to the stage in Inglewood, California, with her concluding the first American leg of her sold-out shows.

Not only did Taylor wrap up her first US leg of her tour seven days ago, but she also announced her fourth re-recorded album — 1989 — and the date on which all of the tracks will be released. The hitmaker, who originally released the album on October 27, 2014, will re-release Taylor’s Version of the album on October 27, 2023 — exactly nine years since the OG record came out.
