Kim Kardashian has officially joined #KateGate. While this might not have been an issue if she had seriously addressed the matter, she used a cheeky caption to get involved. For those unversed, #KateGate is a social media hashtag used to address the disappearance of Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, after she went for planned abdominal surgery as announced by Kensington Palace (via The Prince and Princess of Wales on X).

Alongside a slideshow of pictures that featured her in leather pants and a cropped T-shirt, suggesting that it was taken in 2022 when she attended her nephew Mason Disick’s Bar Mitzvah (via PEOPLE), Kardashian wrote in the caption (via Instagram): “

Kim Kardashian is not the only celebrity who has indulged in #KateGate as not so long ago, Gossip Girls star Blake Lively also promoted her Betty Buzz drinks on Instagram with a heavily edited photo of her with the caption:

“Now you know why I’ve been MIA.”

This caption was a cheeky reference to the Kate Middleton controversy surrounding a picture (via X) that Middleton posted on Mother’s Day and later posted on X admitting to having edited it. This controversy led to extensive media scrutiny of the British royal family as it stirred up conspiracy theories on the internet.
