Travis Kelce tells Taylor Swift he’ll ‘repay’ her for NFL support with Super Bowl promise

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has told girlfriend Taylor Swift that he will win a third Super Bowl ring for her, as the pop star has attended 12 of his 20 games

Travis Kelce was honest and said he’d hold up ‘his end of the bargain’

Travis Kelce, the tight end for Kansas City Chiefs, has made a bold promise to his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

He confidently stated on Monday that he would have a third Super Bowl ring by the end of the week. Kelce is buzzing with confidence ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers. He believes it’s only fair that the Chiefs win for her, given Swift’s support throughout the season.

The pop star has been present at 12 out of the 20 games the Chiefs have played this season, and her impact on the NFL has been significant. “She’s unbelievable. She’s rewriting the history books herself and I told her I’d have to hold up my end of the bargain and come home with some hardware too,” Kelce shared with reporters at Super Bowl Opening Night on Monday.

Swift hasn’t just boosted Kelce’s profile since they started dating, but she’s also generated an estimated brand value of £263 million for the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFL this season, according to Front Office Sports. Swift is expected to make the ultimate gesture by flying back from her tour show in Tokyo, Japan on Feb. 10, to be present at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas on Feb. 11.

While this might seem like added pressure, Kelce insists that his biggest motivator is himself. “She can’t put any more pressure than I put on myself I promise you that, this is the heart of a competitor,” Kelce said. “But she’s definitely brought a lot of new faces to the game and it’s been fun to experience.”

Swift has become very popular at Chiefs games, even being one of the main stars during broadcasts despite only being in a suite. When the Chiefs played the New York Jets, Swift was on screen 17 times, which angered some American football fans as they felt it took away from the on-field action.

Kelce asked before for less camera time on Swift, and she told TIME Magazine she doesn’t choose when she’s filmed. Kelce likes her being at the games but wants her to just enjoy them. “I just want her to have fun. Taylor has an unbelievable fanbase that follows her and supports her throughout her life,” Kelce mentioned.

Swift has become an NFL regular and brought her fans over to American football

“It’s been fun to gather the Swifties and the Chiefs Kingdom and open them up to the football world, the sports world. She seems to be enjoying the games. She’s part of Chiefs Kingdom right now and it’s fun seeing her enjoy the game of football.”

Kelce has enjoyed playing even more since Patrick Mahomes joined the Chiefs in 2017, quickly becoming one of the best quarterbacks ever. Mahomes has led the Chiefs to two Super Bowl victories, with his first success ending a nearly 50-year wait for a Championship in Kansas City.

“It’s been a crazy journey since Pat has been in the building but each year seems to get better and better because he takes it to that next level and he brings everybody along with him,” Kelce explained. “That’s what makes him so great. I could have never expected this but if we’re here we may as well take advantage of it.”

Patrick Mahomes has changed the Kansas City Chiefs franchise forever

Mahomes and Kelce are now playing in their fourth Super Bowl together, their first was against Sunday’s opponents, the 49ers. The Chiefs were down by 10 points going into the fourth quarter against the 49ers back in 2020 but managed to stage a historic comeback with 21 points scored in the final 15 minutes.

However, their team is much different from the one that beat the 49ers back then, and Kelce believes it’ll be their biggest test yet. “When I think about that year I think of Tyreek’s (Hill) long catch. We don’t have him anymore,” Kelce said.

“We’ve got new pieces, a new journey, a new offensive line and this is just on the offensive side of the ball. For us it’s a new experience, we know that this team is going to be the biggest challenge to date.”
