OK, so Lipa was still wearing diapers in the ’90s. But that doesn’t change the fact that nowadays, the 21-year-old pop singer takes her style cues from vintage Kate Moss. Case in point: the Sєxy, slinky slip dress that Lipa was born to wear (at least in time for its second life). Now, with her debut album coming out June 2, all she needs is an afterparty.
Not only is she fresh off a U.S. tour and an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon; the London-based singer has a single (“Be The One”) out now and is also gearing up for a European tour and the Governors Ball Music Festival this summer — you could say that Lipa’s star is rising fast. And she looked more than a little comfortable in head-to-toe sparkle. “I love these boots with the dress. I thought, just go for it: Full glitter!”

I was sitting down, and I didn’t feel like my bum was going to come out. And it even made me look a bit tanned.”

Sometimes on stage, it’s “got to be glitter,” insists Lipa. But the rest of the time her look is more low-key: just a swipe of mascara plus highlighter. “Doing shows every night, putting makeup on every night…my skin gets quite dry, and I tend to break out easily. I love being able to just have a fresh face, hydrated.”

“It’s fun to experiment and change it up a bit,” said Lipa. “I wouldn’t have thought to wear the nightgown-like dress and the jeans together, and it was a really cute look.” What she never had any doubts about? The platforms. “For me, it’s heels over flats any day.”

Lipa used to straighten her hair, but these days she prefers to enhance the texture. “I like natural loose waves, a bit messy.”
