Tuesday’s LSU-Iowa March Madness contest was a rematch from last season’s national championship game.

The Tigers won last year’s national title game as Reese and Clark have seemingly had a rivalry ever since.

Reese recorded 17 points and 20 points in Tuesday’s game.

Clark, meanwhile, put together a stellar performance, scoring 41 points and 12 assists which helped the Hawkeyes defeat LSU.

After the game, both teams were in lines to shake hands with one another.

Reese and Clark embraced each other as the two smiled at each other.

During the postgame press conference, Reese revealed what both said to one another.

“She just told me, ‘Continue to be a great player,” Reese said.

“And I told her, ‘Continue to be a great player, as well, and keep elevating the game and go win it.'”

The hand-shaking moment between Reese and Clark came after a viral moment in last year’s national championship game.

Toward the end of the contest, Reese waved her hand in front of Clark’s face and pointed to her ring finger.

Fans would criticize the LSU post player for her gestures.

As for Clark, she defended Reese’s actions after the title game.

Two days before the Elite Eight game on Tuesday, Reese spoke about how nothing she does on the court is meant to be offensive.

“I don’t think people realize it’s not personal,” Reese said.

“Once we get out between those lines, if I see you walking down the street, it’s like, “Hey, girl, what’s up? Let’s hang out.” I think people just take it like we hate each other.”

“Me and Caitlin Clark don’t hate each other. I want everybody to understand that. It’s just a super-competitive game.”

The senior Clark is set to be the No. 1 pick in the WNBA Draft while Reese has until Friday to make a decision on forgoing her final year in college or enter the draft.
