In a heated basketball game, tension escalated as Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese exchanged heated words. Amidst the chaos, Kim Mulkey, visibly frustrated, expressed her wish for Cardoso to have pushed Reese instead of a smaller player. “It’s ugly. It’s not good,” Mulkey said, condemning the aggressive act as uncalled for. She argued that Cardoso, standing six-foot-eight, should not have targeted someone so much smaller. The intensity of the moment was palpable, as Mulkey passionately voiced her desire for a fair fight between the two players who were already in a verbal altercation. The incident served as a reminder of the importance of sportsmanship and the need to keep physical confrontations in check, even in the heat of the game.

Angel Reese catches Kamilla Cardoso off guard during Chicago Sky’s intense practice session

The WNBA team was celebrating Cardoso’s 23rd birthday.

Kamilla Cardoso celebrated her 23rd birthday on Tuesday. She was lucky enough to have the day off, but the Chicago Sky coaching staff made sure to not forget to give her a gift as soon as they returned to practice the following day.

Her teammates sang her “Happy Birthday” once practice wrapped up, with Angel Reese stepping up right beside her and leading the singing. She then claimed her gift basket, which featured a couple of bags of Takis and other snacks.

Angel Reese and Kamilla Cardoso bond at Chicago Sky practice

Fans of the Sky were happy to see Cardoso and Reese so close to each other and genuinely bonding. The two had several battles during their time at South Carolina and LSU, respectively. Many of those battles were hard-fought and resulted in a lot of contact and trash-talking on the court.

But college basketball is in the past and both players have high expectations heading into their rookie season with the Sky. Chicago is looking to return to glory after a subpar season in 2023. The franchise won the WNBA finals in 2021.
