At a hearing on Wednesday morning, the trial date for former G League player Chance Comanche—who is accused of killing a woman whose body was discovered close to Las Vegas—was set for March 10, 2025.

Comanche made an appearance before Clark County, Nevada’s 8th Judicial District Court Judge Michelle Leavitt. Comanche entered a not guilty plea last Thursday, and his trial was scheduled. The state ruled that Comanche, who was also charged with kidnapping, would not be subject to the death penalty if he were found guilty at trial, his attorney Gary L. Guymon told ESPN that same day.

Chance Comanche and his girlfriend are accused of murder

Comanche and Sakari Harnden, his ex-girlfriend who is accused of murder and kidnapping in connection with the same woman’s death, will go on trial together, according to the prosecution. Harnden, 19, entered a not guilty plea as well.

Comanche and Harnden are charged in connection with the death and disappearance of Lynnwood, Washington resident Marayna Rodgers. Rodgers, a medical assistant, was fatally choked early on December 6, according to Las Vegas police. Later on, her remains were discovered in a suburban Henderson roadside ditch.

According to an autopsy report that ESPN was able to get, Rodgers died as a result of suffocation from strangling.

Comanche, a 6-foot-10 power forward and center, was released by the Stockton Kings, the Sacramento Kings‘ NBA G League franchise, following his arrest. On December 5, the club participated in the G League Ignite in Henderson, Nevada. On April 9, 2023, Comanche participated in one NBA game as a member of the Portland Trail Blazers. He finished the Trail Blazers’ 56-point loss against the Golden State Warriors with seven points and three rebounds.
