The Los Angeles Lakers welcomed the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Crypto.com Arena for an epic basketball game on Saturday night. Although the Lakers triumphed 116-97, one of the game’s highlights occurred during the final five minutes, which involved Austin ReavesLeBron James, and Anthony Davis.

In a short clip that’s trending and taking the internet by storm, James and Davis are seen creating a screen for Austin Reaves and blocking Cleveland Cavaliers’ point guard Darius Garland. It looked so hilarious because, for a while, it looked like the trio were enjoying their cat-and-mouse game while cruising to victory.

The Purple and Gold won eventually, to extend their streak to four games, raking up nine wins in ten games. This sent them to eight on the Western Conference standings, above the Sacramento Kings, and kept them in contention to break into the top six. D’Angelo Russell topped the player statistics chart with 28 points, five rebounds, and two assists.

LeBron James added 24 points, five rebounds, and 12 assists, while Anthony Davis came up with 22 points, 13 rebounds and four assists. Garland had 26 points, two rebounds, and two assists for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Caris LeVert had 21 points, seven rebounds, and two assists.

As the video of the Lakers trio playing a game of cat and mouse with the Cavs point guard was making the rounds on social media, fans worldwide took to popular social media platform X to talk about the incident.

One user, @hmfaigen, tweeted: “The NBA should make this illegal but im glad we got this moment out of it before they did.” Here are some of the reactions:

It seems like teams are inventing new and sometimes crazy ways to bend the league’s rules, as demonstrated during this game. Although the Lakers got away with it, it might soon become the trend in the league. The Lakers, being on a roll, face the Minnesota Timberwolves next.
