Karl Malone made a ton of dough while playing in the NBA, but it looks like he is continuing to bring in money during his post-career.

Hall of Famer Karl Malone has been auctioning off memorabilia from his time on the 1992 Olympic Dream Team.

ESPN reported that the hall of fame NBA legend pocketed $5 million from jersey and shoes auctioned items of a famous figure/teammate from the 1992 Dream Team.

“Utah Jazz legend Karl Malone recently auctioned off 24 pieces of memorabilia from the 1992 Summer Olympics USA Basketball “Dream Team” — game-used jerseys and sneakers from all 12 members — to the tune of $5 million.

“The bulk of those earnings from the auction with collectibles marketplace Goldin, unsurprisingly, came via Michael Jordan’s No. 9 white jersey — worn during the 127-76 dismantling of Lithuania in the semifinals. It sold for $3,003,000 — a record for any game-used Olympics Jordan item. Jordan’s game-worn sneakers from the 1992 Tournament of the Americas — the pre-Olympics event where the Dream Team debuted — sold for $420,000.”

Malone also sold a jersey and a pair of shoes signed by Larry Bird, along with a Magic Johnson jersey.

Malone won the gold medal in Barcelona alongside Jordan, Bird, Johnson, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, and several other future Hall of Famers. Malone’s auction continues a trend of Jordan memorabilia doing well at auction: in April, a pair of Air Jordans worn during Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals sold for more than $2.2 million. Jordan scored 37 points in that game to win his sixth and last NBA title.

He and Jordan may have been rivals on the court, but selling off some of his stuff has made him a ton of money.

During his 19 seasons in the NBA, Malone achieved numerous accolades and records. He was a 14-time NBA All-Star, a two-time NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 1997 and 1999, and a 14-time All-NBA selection.

Despite his individual success, Malone did not win an NBA championship during his career.
