Michael Jordan was the first athlete who reach the billionaire mark. The news of this did not come as a surprise as Jordan is widely recognized as the greatest player in the NBA. Despite returning more than two decades ago, he is the face of the league. Not only this, but he also revolutionized the sneaker game and the endorsement deals that athletes received.

However, his first daughter, Jasmine Jordan firmly believes that Michael could have made trillions if the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) made changes to their NIL policy earlier. The policy change has led college and high school athletes to earn and profit from their fame. They can profit from the endorsement deals that they sign with brands.

Furthermore, Jasmine touched upon how this could have affected Michael’s earnings during his college career at the University of North Carolina. She said, “Looking at his Funko Pop collectibles or the fact that people still wear his UNC jersey, to reap the benefits from it today, we’re talking making trillions at this point”. It is undeniable that Michael’s popularity is ever-increasing.

Michael Jordan signed a $2.5 million deal with Nike in 1984

In the same year when Michael Jordan had his debut game, he signed a deal worth $2.5 million with Nike which wasn’t as famous as it is today. He wasn’t keen to move forward with this endorsement deal, until, his mother Deloris Jordan urged him to and got him on the plane.

Additionally, Jasmine emphasized how the Nike deal would have been different if the NIL policy change had been made earlier. In her words, “Maybe that first Nike deal wouldn’t have been as low as it was. It would have changed the game. He would have potentially approached his contracts with Nike differently”. Fans could not help but wonder how Jordan’s empire would have been different if this was the case.

Notably, Michael earns around $700,000 each day from his Jordan-Nike partnership. This began back in 1997 and has given birth to the ‘Jordan Brand‘ that is undeniably elite. Most of his fans have had their eyes set on one or another pair of Jordans.

Jasmine Jordan revealed the kind of relationship the Jordan brand shares with the athletes

Jasmine Jordan is not only Michael’s daughter but also a boss lady who knows how to get work done. She is a basketball field representative for the Jordan brand. The changes in the NIL policy have significantly altered her role and responsibilities as well.

She explained that with the change, everyone is going to be reaching out to high school guys. However, the Jordan brand aims to get women athletes signed to the brand. In her own words, “Our approach to NIL has been focused on women”. Jasmine is undeniably working hard for the upliftment of the brand and is giving every ounce of her efforts.

Furthermore, Michael Jordan‘s daughter explained the kind of relationship Jordan brand aims to share with the athletes that come on board. She stated, “Also, it’s full-fledged, long-term relationships for us. It’s not about collecting whatever check that you can because you did a quick post on Instagram”.

Jasmine continued, “If we’re signing you, we’re signing you for your college years or resigning you from high school into college and a maybe pro”. She emphasized that the brand signs because the athlete wants to do too. They understand that it’s a two-way street. It would be thrilling to see the new faces that get signed with the Jordans brand in the coming time.
