Joel Embiid’s fantastic season has been slowed down by injuries, and now it’s just gotten even worse.

On Thursday, it was announced that Embiid suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee. No timetable was given on how long he would be out.

Embiid was in pursuit of a loose ball when he got injured in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s 119-107 loss to the Golden State Warriors. After several moments of clutching his knee on the court, Embiid eventually limped back to the locker room and did not return.

In the month of January, Embiid missed a total of five games and now he is likely to miss even more this month.

Hours before his injury was announced, the NBA added more insult to injury as it announced Philadelphia is being fined $75,000 for failing to report Embiid would not play on Jan. 27 in a more timely fashion.

When Embiid has played healthy, he is leading the NBA in average points (35.3), while adding 11.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists.
