Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy clapping at Philadelphia 76ers-Boston Celtics game.
Fans on social media had a lot to say when Dave Portnoy showed up on their television screns on Sunday.

The Barstool Sports founder and well-known Boston Celtics superfan Dave Portnoy was in attendance for the team’s Game 7 win over the Philadelphia 76ers at TD Garden on Sunday.

NBA fans had plenty of reactions to Portnoy’s brief appearance on the ESPN/ABC broadcast:

With the victory, the Celtics find themselves in the Eastern Conference Finals for the second straight year, where they’ll again take on the Miami Heat. The C’s are in the final four for the fifth time in the past seven years (2017, 2018, 2020 and 2022).

Also for the second straight year, Boston rallied to win Games 6 and 7 after trailing 3-2 in the second round of the postseason. Last year, they dethroned the defending champion Milwaukee Bucks before ousting the top-seeded Heat in the Conference Finals. Boston went on to lose to the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors in six games.

The winner of the Celtics/Heat series will play the winner of the Western Conference Final which features Nikola Jokic’s Denver Nuggets against LeBron James’ Los Angeles Lakers. Game 1 between the Heat and Celtics will begin at TD Garden on Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. EST.

The 46-year-old Portnoy founded Barstool Sports in Milton, Massachusetts in 2003. The company is based in New, York, New York.
