The Sanders sons could enter the 2025 NFL Draft

Deion Sanders has taken over Colorado‘s football program and has sought to remake it in his own image. After the hype of last season flamed out, Sanders is hard at work trying to make the Buffaloes bowl-eligible in 2024. Any success the team has this coming season will likely be thanks to Sanders’ two sons, Shedeur and Shilo, as well as two-way threat Travis Hunter, who generated some Heisman Trophy buzz in 2023.

But Sanders is seeking to retain some control over his talented trio when they leave Colorado, perhaps as soon as this winter. As such, he has presented a list of the teams that he would “allow” Shedeur, Shilo, and Travis to play with in the NFL — and the list has quite a familiar look about it.

Sanders wants his sons to continue his NFL legacy

According to the New York Post, Deion has provided Shedeur, Shilo, and Travis their choice among six acceptable NFL teams: the Philadelphia Eagles, the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, the Washington Commanders, the Baltimore Ravens, or the Atlanta Falcons.

It is unknown exactly what kind of action Deion would take if one (or all) of these three players begins their NFL career with a team not on the list — league rules do not have an exception for such a list like the one Deion has provided. But it didn’t take long for some to notice that of those six teams, Deion suited up for five of them during his Hall of Fame career as a cornerback and kick returner.

Shilo, the older Sander son and a safety by trade, has not generated the kind of draft chatter that younger son Shedeur has. Shedeur, a quarterback, plays a premium position and — like his father — is blessed with charisma, confidence, and a great football mind. With a good 2024 season, Shedeur could easily be a first-round pick — but he would likely start his career with a team toward the bottom of the NFL standings, one that his father would not necessarily approve.

Hunter could be the most intriguing prospect of all though, given his ability to excel as a wide receiver and as a cornerback — just as Deion did throughout his 14-year career. If Hunter stays healthy in 2024, he has top-10 pick potential in 2025.
