Their past relationship is back in the spotlight

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is in the spotlight after law enforcement agencies raided his properties in Miami and Los Angeles, as an ongoing federal sex trafficking investigation continues.

As a result, attention has also shifted to his past relationships, including his high-profile romance with Jennifer Lopez. The couple for two years from 1999 to 2001, with Lopez once telling Vibe magazine that Combs was the first man to cheat on her.

“Was the first time I was with someone who wasn’t faithful. I was in this relationship with Puff where I was totally crying, crazy and going nuts, it really took my whole life in a tailspin,” she told the outlet back in 2003.

Was Lopez referring to Combs in her documentary?

A lot has changed since then, as JLo is now married to Ben Affleck. However, in her 2024 documentary, ‘The Greatest Love Story Never Told’, fans believed she opened up about her time with Diddy when discussing past abusive relationships.

“There were people in my life who said ‘I love you’ and then didn’t do things that were kind of in line with the word ‘love.’ Being thrown around and manhandled like that is not fun,” Lopez said without naming names.

“I mean, I was never in a relationship where I got beat up, thank God, but I’ve definitely been manhandled and a couple of other unsavory things. Rough. Disrespectful.”

Fans have started to speculate that Lopez was referring to her relationship to Diddy following recent allegations against him, with one Reddit user posting: “Considering a bunch of allegations of P.Diddy are coming out… I wonder if there’s a connection between to speaking out publicly now. Either way I hope she’s doing better now!”

While fans are speculating over who Lopez was referring to, a source did tell the Daily Mail that it wasn’t Diddy.

Diddy facing plenty of allegations

Diddy has denied the numerous allegations he is facing, which include rape and abuse.

Federal agencies raided his homes on Monday in an attempt to seize phones and computers as part of an investigation. Four Jane Does and one John Doe have been interviewed by New York prosecutors over sex trafficking allegations and a racketeer influences and corrupt organizations case.

“Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residences,” Diddy’s attorney, Aaron Dyer, told TMZ on Tuesday.

“This unprecedented ambush – paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence – leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits.”

Lopez and Diddy arrested in 1999

Diddy and Lopez were arrested together back in 1999 when they were parting at Club New York. That’s when shots were fired following a fight involving Diddy, which resulted in three people being injured.

The couple left the scene and were pulled over after running a light, and they were arrested after a gun was found in the car.

Lopez was later absolved after reportedly bein detained for 14 hours. Combs was later indicted on two counts of criminal possession of an unregistered gun and attempted bribery for allegedly trying to get his bodyguard, Anthony Jones, to claim the weapon was his.

He was later acquitted.
