Madonna loses her temper: ‘The show will not go on until you respect me’

Footage from the latest show of Madonna’s Celebration greatest hits tour shows the Queen of Pop losing her cool on stage, declaring that “the show will not go on until you respect me”.

However, eyewitnesses report that Madonna wasn’t directing her temper at fans at the Miami concert, but rather the venue staff and tour crew, with airconditioning in the arena apparently affecting her voice.

“You don’t know how much I’ve been waiting for this the whole f**king show,” a visibly angry Madonna told the crowd during the concert’s third act, which sees her perform in nothing but a silk slip.

“I am working my ass off, I deserve it. Respect me. The show will not go on until you respect me,” she continued, to cheers from the audience.

“I also work very hard, cause I am a mother, and I am artist. And I … am a Queen, yes. I get really mad when people don’t care about my health. This is my 71st show. And I will keep going.”

Madonna is nearing the end of her mammoth Celebration greatest hits tour which began in London in October last year and will finish on May 4 with a giant free show on Brazil’s Copacabana Beach.

While it’s attracted rave reviews and sell-out crowds, Madonna’s career-spanning tour hasn’t been without incident – due largely to her regular off-script outbursts.

Last month she singled out a member of the audience from on stage, demanding to know why they weren’t on their feet dancing with everyone else – only to realise that they were in fact using a wheelchair.

“Oh, okay,” she said sheepishly. “Politically incorrect. Sorry about that. I’m glad you’re here.”

And at a show in Houston, Texas last week, she angrily chastised a member of the audience who she said had not been paying enough attention to her.

Identifying him as “the guy with the T-shirt and chains that looks like he wants to get f**ked right now,” Madonna complained that “while I was singing my heart out about the loss of my mother he was looking around at the crowd … not at me.”

“I’m just pointing out that I f**king pay attention, so you need to pay attention young man!” she said.

The start date for the Celebration tour had been pushed back by several months after Madonna suffered a terrifying near-death health scare in June last year.

The 65-year-old was found unresponsive at her New York home and rushed to hospital, where she was treated for a “serious bacterial infection”, just two weeks before the tour had been due to kick off.
