Rashee Rice Charged With 8 Felonies Following Car Crash Victim’s “Angry” Remark as Arrest Warrant Issued for Chiefs WR

There have been further developments in the Rashee Rice story. The chain reaction crash that injured a couple has brought forth even more disconcerting news for the Chiefs wide receiver. The WR has been charged with 8 felonies, and there seems to be no upside to the situation. Adam Schefter has been following the Rice case closely and has provided more updates.

Per the latest developments, Dallas Police has revealed that arrest warrants have been issued against Rice, but the length of the sentence hasn’t been revealed as of now. Previously, the couple affected by the crash were “angry”, per their lawyer, and they were ready to press charges. The situation has become much worse.

Rashee Rice facing serious charges

Schefter took to Instagram to reveal more about the matter. He posted on Instagram, “Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver Rashee Rice faces charges including aggravated assault after he and another speeding driver of a sports car caused a chain-reaction crash, Dallas police said Wednesday.”

The statement also said, “Police said that arrest warrants have been issued for the 23-year-old Rice for one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury and six counts of collision involving injury. Rice’s attorney, state Sen. Royce West, said last week that Rice had been driving a Lamborghini sport utility vehicle when the crash occurred.”

The couple who was injured during the crash hired a lawyer, Tennessee Walker, who told WFAA that the couple was “angry.” The lawyer also said, “She had a very big laceration on her left eye. She’s got several stitches that were put in at the hospital and the eye socket is completely swollen and black and blue,” Walker said.

The same charges are levied on the driver of the other car, Corvette, on an individual named Theodore Knox, 21. According to the police, the passengers who left the crash scene will not be facing any charges.

What Rashee Rice’s future might look like

As pointed out by ESPN, aggravated assault is a second-degree felony, which is punishable by up to 20 years in prison. On top of that, Collision involving bodily injury, a third-degree felony, is punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Also, a collision involving injury is punishable by up to five years in prison.

These charges do not include offenses for the WR leaving the scene. He might still face additional charges for those transgressions. The Chiefs NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy told PFT, “We continue to monitor developments in the matter.” The league is waiting for the legal matter to resolve itself before they impose any discipline on Rice.

Also, because of the felony charges, Rice may be placed on paid leave. The league doesn’t usually pay their players for off-season leaves.

We are awaiting more updates on the case.
