Arguably the biggest story involving the Kansas City Chiefs during the NFL off-season has been the car crash involving Rashee Rice.

He was involved in a multi-car crash when driving as fast as 119mph in Dallas, Texas. He is now facing eight different criminal charges, one of which is aggravated assault.

The crash saw seven people sustain injuries and around six cars were wrecked and up until now, Chiefs coach Andy Reid has not discussed what it means for Rice and his future with the team.

Reid discusses Rice’s crash

It seems that Rice will be virtually taking part in the first phase of the off-season conditioning, which got underway on Monday.

“I’m leaving that, like we’ve done most of these, for the law enforcement part to take place and then we will go from there with that,” Reid added on Monday, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Rice was released from jail on a 40,000 dollar bond as he waits for his trial to commence. He also mentioned on Instagram that he is taking ‘full responsibility’ for his role in the crash. There was also 10.8 grams of marijuana in the vehicle that Rice was driving.

The first part of the off-season for the Chiefs, known as Phase One, will include player meetings, strength and conditioning training, and continued rehabilitation for players with injuries.

That is why Rice should be fine to complete most of his obligations remotely, but Phase Two and Three involve a lot more physical work as the season gets closer and closer.
