Years ago, Diaz and Justin Timberlake, the former hot and popular couple were madly in love but their relationship did not last long. After dating for four years, from 2003 to 2007, Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake broke up due to a variety of issues. And, one of the main reasons for their split was the involvement of Marvel star Scarlett Johansson on Justin Timberlake’s very popular song What Goes Around….Comes Around.

Why do two people end a relationship? There might be many reasons. And,  same happened with Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake as well. However, one of the main reasons that acted as a catalyst was reportedly Justin Timberlake’s popular song What Goes Around….Comes Around which featured Scarlett Johansson alongside the pop singer.

Diaz was not pleased with the music video. The sensual music video had Timberlake and Johansson kissing and cuddling in heavily romantic scenes.

As per a report by US Weekly at that time, “Cameron was very jealous of Scarlett … She could not believe he went behind her back to put her in the video.” It was reported that Johansson had a crush on Timberlake and because of this Diaz always felt “threatened by her.” (Via Fox News)

Though Cameron Diaz never publicly spoke about the music video or Johansson’s appearance in it, just after the music video came out, the couple announced their separation in January 2007.

How Did Scarlett Johansson Address the Alleged Romance with Justin Timberlake?

There were rumors that both Scarlett Johansson and Justin Timberlake were dating. But the duo never officially confirmed that. According to CBS News in 2007, the Marvel actress and the singer-songwriter became friends at a Super Bowl party.

However, Johansson put an end to these speculations and rumors. The star said to Seventeen, (Via Instyle.com)

“We live in a world today where if two people are single – and one’s a guy and one’s a girl and they’re both famous – you’re going to be linked with somebody.”

Currently, Diaz and Timberlake both have happy marriages with their partners, Benji Madden and Jessica Biel respectively. Johansson, who was previously married to actor Ryan Reynolds from 2008 to 2011 and to French journalist and art dealer Romain Dauriac from 2014 to 2017, tied the knot with comedian and writer Colin Jost in October 2020.
