Throughout her career, Scarlett Johansson has undergone several changes to her appearance. Whatever Johansson does, the media is always taking note. She almost ruined her reputation in Hollywood with a dress. That was yet another example of how Johansson is always in the spotlight.

In the following, we’re going to take a look at Scarlett Johansson’s many different hair colors. We’ll reveal what her hair color actually is, and why she was inspired to take on certain looks, like when she cut her short. We’ll also reveal her thoughts on the mullet look, and what she thinks was her worst hairstyle ever.

Scarlett Johansson’s Natural Hair Color Is Chestnut Brown

Throughout her many performances, fans have seen Scarlett Johansson with multiple hair colors, along with different styles along the way. Johansson also wore wigs frequently for films in the past.

So this begs the question, what is her natural hair color? Is it blonde? Brunette? As it turns out, Scarlett Johansson’s natural hair color is chestnut brown.

Nowadays, fans are accustomed to a dirty blonde look from the actress, but her actual color is chestnut brown.

As expected, Johansson had several regrets about her hairstyles in the past. One in particular came early on in her career, Johansson referred to it as “electrical socket crazy.”

She recalled the look with People, “There was a year that I went to the Tony Awards — I must have been 19 or 20. I wanted a hairstyle that looked like [actress] Jean Harlow’s.”

Johansson continues, “It looked like a crimping iron. Basically, a crimping iron was taking a stand on my head,” Johansson said. “Yeah, it was electrical socket crazy.”

Scarlett would go on to reveal that the best part about her hair color is that it is always changing.

“The best thing about hair color is that it’s only temporary.”

Johansson took other major risks throughout her career with her hair, and one of them included cutting it short, despite being told otherwise.

Scarlett Johansson Was Advised Not To Cut Her Hair, But Decided Otherwise For Maintenance Reasons

Scarlett Johansson spoke about taking a big risk by cutting her hair short. According to the actress, she got tired of wearing a ponytail, especially given she often wore wigs in films. Johansson was advised not to, but ultimately, she decided to do her own thing.

“I think I just got tired of wearing a ponytail all the time. I [was] always stuffing it under a wig, so I just cut it off. Everybody kept saying, ‘Don’t cut your hair! You might hate it!’ But, then I thought, Why am I letting other people tell me what to do?”

The adjustment was convenient for Johansson given her routines.

“I can just wash and go,” she says. “I’ve never had a crazy routine. I’m on somebody else’s schedule. It’s hard for…any parent with a new kid. Your brain is totally preoccupied. But, I’m very fortunate to have a job where I can take time off, and I can have my baby at work and people are more understanding. A lot of people don’t have that luxury.”

Credit to Johansson for doing things her own way, despite the pressures of telling her to do otherwise.

Scarlett Johansson Took Other Risks With Her Hair Throughout Her Career

Scarlett Johansson took other risks with hairstyles, and one of them was memorable, with the actress rocking a mullet two decades ago. She called the look “really cute” despite it looking “extreme.”

She said about the mullet, “When I was 19, I cut my hair into a fashion mullet, which I wanted to have a Bowie-meets-‘Silkwood’ vibe,” Johansson told the publication. “When I look back, it felt like it was beyond forward, it was probably extreme, but now it’s back and I still think it was a really cute haircut.”

Johansson also started a certain eyebrow trend, one she doesn’t regret either.

“I definitely tweezed all my friends’ eyebrows away, which they still give me shit about,” the actress told InStyle. “Mine grew back, but I guess my friends’ didn’t, and they’re still pissed about it — whatever, it was popular back then!”

Clearly, Johansson hasn’t avoided doing her own thing throughout her career, despite what others might say.
