Comedian Steve Harvey champions the belief that making money is an innate skill, easily attainable with low effort. His motivational speeches, where he emphasizes this notion, have garnered widespread attention on social media.

“There’s only two ways to make money in this world, you could either provide service or you could sell something,” Harvey said in a video clip that was shared on Instagram by an account with the name wealthunifier.
Turns out the clip is from a 2019 conference Harvey spoke at called 10X Growth Conference, hosted by financial influencer Grant Cardone, CEO of Cardone Enterprises. Problem is today Cardone has been accused of shady practices by some of his investors and followers.
“Court records from lawsuits involving Grant Cardone’s training programs include claims from former clients who say they were trapped into lengthy, inflexible contracts that they were unable to pay for or get out of,” the Huffington Post reported in July 2023.
But in October 2023, a class action lawsuit against Cardone was dismissed. The complaint, filed by Christine Pino against Cardone was ruled out. Christine had taken over from her late father, Luis Pino, who initiated the legal battle. Luis initially filed the lawsuit in 2020 after investing $10,000 in two of Cardone’s funds, The Real Deal reported.
The lawsuit filed by the Pinos claimed that Cardone misled investors on social media by making exaggerated promises regarding investor returns, minimizing their financial obligations, and failing to fully disclose the fees he collected.
And earlier this month, Cardone hit former T-Mobile CEO John Legere with a $100 million defamation lawsuit for referring to Cardone as a “con man” and a “bulls–t artist.”
Needless to say controversy seems to follow Cardone.
Still, some focused in on the advice Harvey gave five years ago at Cardone’s conference.
In figuring out how to succeed, Harvey said he had to identify his skill set, the skills he says come naturally to him, and know how to capitalize on it.
‘I was born to entertain people. I was born to make people laugh. That’s my real gift,” said comedian, who authored the book “Act Like a Success, Think Like a Success” in 2014. “This gift is both a sale and a service because I’m selling you a ticket to come see me and when you get here I am providing a service…”
Other Harvey News
Recently, Harvey was brought into the viral conversation around Katt Williams’ interview on “Club Shay Shay” with Shannon Sharpe.
Williams alleges that Harvey, along with other celebrities and fellow comedians, are either stealing jokes, acting as “industry plants,” or being inauthentic.
Williams claimed that Harvey was jealous of the late Bernie Mac, both of whom were part of Def Jam’s Kings of Comedy tour, and that Harvey stole a Halloween-themed joke from Mark Curry of “Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper” fame.
Harvey has denied any wrongdoing and has remained relatively silent. As The List notes, he took the higher road in his course of action.
In a Jan. 7 X/Twitter post featuring a video clip of the host on-set of “Family” Feud,” captioned “You don’t have to address your haters.” In the video clip, Harvey says, “No, you ain’t gotta tell nobody nothing. All you got to do is be it. You don’t have to open your mouth.” He then began quoting Psalms 23:5: “‘He prepares a table in the presence of mine enemies.’ He do it all the time. All my haters? I ain’t gotta say nothing to them. They got TV. They can cut they TV on seven days a week. All that hate? ‘Man, he on there.’”
