Former NFL star Antonio Brown has again ignited social media controversy, this time targeting Indiana Fever‘s basketball prodigy Caitlin Clark. Known for his contentious posts, Brown’s recent activity has drawn intense criticism and spurred a debate on the boundaries of humor and respect in sports.

Recently, Brown posted a meme on X (formerly Twitter) with a derogatory comment about Clark, stating, “Caitlin Clark looks like she keeps it hairy.” The post quickly went viral, sparking outrage among Clark’s supporters. The backlash was swift, with many fans condemning the vulgarity of the joke, leading Clark to block Brown on the platform. However, instead of retreating, Brown leveraged the incident to highlight what he perceives as a double standard in the reactions of sports fans.

Prior to this incident, Brown had made similar comments about Angel Reese, the recent Chicago Sky draft pick and former LSU standout. His remarks then were met with laughter by some, including Reese’s followers, who seemed to appreciate the jest. This disparity in response only fueled Brown’s argument about the selective sensitivity of fans, particularly when it came to Clark.

In a series of follow-up tweets tagged #CTESPN, Brown pointed out the inconsistency in reactions, sharing another meme that read, “‘Funny’ when I joke about Angel but when I bring up Caitlin…” This only intensified the divide among sports fans, with some condemning Brown’s insensitivity and others defending his brand of humor.

Undeterred by the backlash and Clark’s decision to block him, Brown screenshot the block notification, turning it into another meme titled, “Cracker of the Day #CTESPN Blocked by Cousin It.” He continued to post content related to Clark, including a mock advertisement for her upcoming Nike deal. The meme featured black Nike sneakers with faux fur, dubiously dubbed “Caitlin Clark’s Hair Force Ones.”

Further stirring the pot, Brown compared Clark’s draft day look to someone about to sign the “Declaration of Independence,” maintaining his trend of controversial and attention-grabbing posts.

While Clark’s supporters express dismay at Brown’s actions, others find humor in them, viewing these antics as the former athlete’s method of staying relevant. Regardless of the stance, Brown’s approach to social media ensures he remains a focal point in sports discussions, even in his absence from the football field.
