She went on to reference the role of Queen Elizabeth I, which she said she “got to have a crack at as well” and “was honored to do.” “I was like, ‘Wow, Cate Blanchett did Queen Elizabeth I. Now I get to,'” she added, in relation to her taking on the role – previously portrayed by the Blue Jasmine star in the 1998 film, Elizabeth – in the 2018 film, Mary Queen of Scots.

Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn announcement

Lady Gaga announced that she would be taking on the iconic role back in August, when she took to social media to tease her fans with the above post. Not many other details have been released yet, but we can’t wait to see what Lady Gaga brings to the table. Will she go all method like she did for House of Gucci, we wonder?

Other actresses who have played Harley Quinn

Harley Quinn was created in 1992 by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm for a Batman: The Animated Series episode called Joker’s Favor – and the character has come a long way since then!

Lady Gaga has some pretty big shoes to fill, as in addition to the Barbie actress, the character has been played by so many talented actresses, including Tara Strong (she voices Bubbles in Powerpuff Girls and Timmy in Fairly Odd Parents, so she’s pretty legendary!) Arleen Sorkin, Mia Sara, who was the first actress to bring the character to real life in 2002, and Kaley Cuoco, to name just four.
