KELLY OUBRE JR FACES HUGE NBA FINE AFTER COMMENTS TOWARDS REFS ARE PICKED UP BY ESPN CAMERAS AS OFFICIALS ADMIT ERRORS (kf)

PHILADELPHIA 76ers star Kelly Oubre Jr. could be in for a massive fine after erupting on referees on Wednesday night.

The 76ers fell to the LA Clippers 108-107, but Kelly Oubre felt that his team deserved another opportunity to score on a free throw.

After a last-minute tip-off, Oubre drove into the paint to go for a layup and took hard contact, causing him to miss the game-winning shot and fall to the ground.

Oubre and the Sixers expected to have a foul called, but no whistle blew and they lost the game.

Head coach Nick Nurse went wild over the no-call storming out onto the court to scream at the officials and had to be held back by his staff.

Seeing his coach going at it with the refs, Oubre walked over and pointed at each one individually while shouting expletives.

“You’re a b****. You’re a b****. You’re a b****,” he said pointing to each official.

After the game Oubre showed remorse for his actions, apologizing for his outburst.

“First and foremost, heat of the moment,” Oubre said.

“This is an intense basketball game, of course. And we’re not perfect. The refs aren’t perfect. I want to apologize for just losing my cool, because that’s something I try to work on each and every day, and try to represent God in the best way I possibly can, and that wasn’t it. So I just ask for forgiveness.

“But I saw Coach Nurse getting riled up and if our coach is going to fight for us and he’s going there, then I’m right behind him. But at the end of the day, it wasn’t cool.

“So I’ll take whatever penalties come with that and you have to move on, but I got to be better in a sense.”

The penalties could be large, as the NBA doesn’t usually take actions against officials lightly.

FanDuel TV host and former NBA player Lou Williams predicted that Oubre could see a fine of “$2,000 per b**** without a doubt.”

Nurse is likely in for a big fine as well for his involvement in the scuffle, but he showed less remorse than Oubre after the game.

“I think [Oubre] took it in there pretty hard,” Nurse said.

“I looked at it on our computers a couple times. I thought it was certainly contact, certainly as much of the last two or three that got called and-1s at the other end.

“I thought it was enough contact to call. [But] that’s the way it goes sometimes.”

I’ll take whatever penalties come with that and you have to move on.

Even worse for the 76ers was that Nurse’s evaluation of the final play was correct. Crew chief Kevin Scott confirmed after the game that his crew missed the call on the final play of the game.

“On the last play on the floor, in real time the crew interpreted that play as the defender jumping vertically,” Scott said.

“However, in postgame video review we did observe some slight drift to his left by the defender [Paul] George, and a foul should have been ruled.”

With the loss, the 76ers fall to eight place in the Eastern Conference, keeping them out of reach of the No. 6 seed Indiana Pacers.

If the 76ers remain below sixth place by the end of the season they will be forced into the Play-In Tournament.
