MARCH MADNESS FANS OUTRAGED OVER ‘DISGUSTING COMMENT’ FROM NCAA STAR FOLLOWING STUNNING ELITE EIGHT WIN (kf)

PURDUE’s stunning win against Tennessee clearly had star Zach Edey pumped up.

The Boilermakers giant, 21, had plenty to say following their 72-66 Elite Eight win at the Little Ceasars Arena in Michigan.

“They thought they knew what we had in our hearts,” he told CBS Sports’ Evan Washburn of their mentality.

“I’ll promise you they didn’t. We’re f*****g winners. This what we do.”

The Canadian’s live TV outburst caught plenty of viewers by surprise, infuriating some.

“Disgusting comment from Zach,” tweeted one fan.

“Cussing on live TV where thousands of children are watching? Real classy,” a second said.

“Great language on Easter Sunday buddy. My Grandma watched this,” commented a third.

While another added, “I love Edey but do better.”

Looking ahead to their Final Four game, Edey went on to say, “I couldn’t ask for a better team to spend it with.”

Following his on-air outburst, Edey stuck with tradition and cut a section of the net as a souvenir.

However, unlike most, at 7-foot-4 tall, the center had no need for a ladder.

Edey then handed the momento to Hall of Fame coach Gene Keady, who previously led the Boilermakers for 25 years.

This will go down as a game to remember for Edey, who scored a remarkable 40 points on the day.

Perhaps most impressively, he single-handedly made more free throws (13) than the entire Vols team (11).

Edey’s 16 rebounds were also a game-high, while he also recorded an assist.

Purdue’s all-time scoring leader, with this latest win, Edey joined Hall of Famer Oscar Robertson as the only players to have led the nation in scoring and made it to the Final Four, as per Yahoo Sports.

The National College Player of the Year will now lead the Boilermakers to a Final Four tie against either Duke or NC State.

That game will take place on Saturday, April 6 at State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona.

That same day, UConn will take on Alabama in the other matchup, with the Huskies looking to win their second consecutive NCAA title.

The final will be held in Arizona on Monday, April 8.
