NBA legend uncle Kobe Bryant proud Saturday with his performance at Crypto.com Arena – the home of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Washington, who is the son of the late Bryant’s sister Sharia Washington, played for Las Vegas Bishop Gorman High in the Coastal Catholic Classic showcase event on Saturday.
He scored 33 points in an impressive display but couldn’t prevent an 82-81 overtime loss to San Francisco Riordan.
Washington made a three-point shot just before the buzzer in regulation to tie the score and force overtime.
If playing at the same arena where his uncle’s retired Lakers jersey hangs wasn’t memorable enough, Washington’s 33 points also mark the same number as Bryant’s high school jersey.

The Black Mamba played his entire NBA career with the Los Angeles Lakers at the arena
‘It means a lot playing in the house he built and playing where he played,’ Washington said.
Bishop Gorman’s coach Grant Rice said the team couldn’t pass up on the chance to play at Crypto.com Arena given the significance for Washington and opportunity for the school.
‘When they first contacted us to play here, we didn’t want to pass that up,’ he said. ‘We weren’t thinking about Jett, but it’s an added bonus for him to get a chance to come back here where his uncle played and is such a big figure in Los Angeles. It’s an amazing thing.’
Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter, Gigi, six friends and a pilot died in a helicopter crash in January of 2020 in Calabasas, California.

Bryant played his entire NBA career with the Lakers at Crypto.com Arena, formerly known as the Staples Center, helping to bring five championship rings to Los Angeles.
Washington may not follow in his uncle’s footsteps, however, as the sophomore is a two-sport standout for Bishop Gorman.
The 6-foot-4 youngster was a wide receiver for Bishop Gorman’s unbeaten football team last season and already has college offers from the likes of Georgia, Arizona and Washington, according to his Instagram profile.
