British actress Hannah Waddingham came to the defense of Hollywood A-lister Tom Cruise during a recent appearance on James Martin’s Saturday Morning. Waddingham, who is part of the cast for the upcoming Mission: Impossible film, shared her positive experiences of working with Cruise on the set.

The 49-year-old actress expressed her strong objection to those who criticize Cruise, emphasizing her firsthand experience of spending five intense days with the 61-year-old actor on a U.S. aircraft carrier during the film’s production.

Waddingham lauded Cruise as “one of the loveliest and encouraging, positive and inspiring human beings” she has ever met. “I have no time for anyone saying anything about him,”Waddingham declared emphatically during the cooking show’s Christmas Day episode.

Waddingham’s defense of Cruise echoes sentiments shared by Hayley Atwell, who worked with Cruise on the previous Mission: Impossible release. Atwell commended Cruise for creating a safe and respectful environment for actresses, emphasizing his desire for people to thrive and engage in the filmmaking process.

The “The Duchess” actress stressed that Cruise’s “reputation precedes him with actresses in that he makes them feel very safe, very seen, really respected. He loves people to thrive, he loves intelligent women.”

Cruise has been filming the eighth installment of the Mission: Impossible franchise on the USS George H.W. Bush, an aircraft carrier, since at least March of the current year.

The next Mission: Impossible

The film, directed by Christopher McQuarrie, is expected to continue the conflict between Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, and the antagonist Gabriel, played by Esai Morales. The plot revolves around the ownership of a key unlocking control to a powerful artificial intelligence system known as the Entity.

The eighth Mission: Impossible film, initially scheduled for release in June 2024, faced delays due to a Hollywood actors’ strike this year, pushing its release date to May 2025.

Despite challenges, Waddingham and Atwell’s positive experiences with Cruise highlight the actor’s reputation for fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere on set.
