Rihanna may have shocked everyone with her unexpected baby bump reveal during her Super Bowl Halftime Show earlier this year, but it didn’t necessarily happen as planned.

The Grammy-winning singer recently opened up to Access Hollywood about the memorable moment, when she announced her second pregnancy with partner ASAP Rocky.

“Here’s the thing. I did what I had to do, right? My jumper couldn’t zip up,” the Fenty Beauty founder told the outlet, laughing. “No one knew I was pregnant. I just told my stylist, ‘Make sure it’s stretchy.’ So the undergarment was stretchy and this [jacket] was baggy, but you know, the zip. It just stopped right there! So it had to be what it had to be.”

During the first few minutes of her explosive performance, while being lifted into the air on a platform at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, Rihanna rubbed her stomach, sending social media into a frenzy.

The superstar called the entire performance an “out-of-body experience, and I feel like I’ve heard that before, [but] I felt it for the first time at the Super Bowl.”

Rihanna reportedly gave birth to her second child with rapper ASAP Rocky in August, after welcoming their first baby in May 2022.

The artist said of her partner and her children’s father, “I loved him differently as a dad…. It’s a turn-on, it’s just like, wow. What a leader, what a great, patient, loving…and my kids are obsessed with him. I’m just a background, like I’m an extra.”
