DIDDY has shared a tribute to recognize a music producer’s death on Instagram but fans were shocked after the rapper left comments turned on amid legal trouble.

Over the weekend sources revealed that Rico Wade, a legendary Atlanta-based hip-hop producer, who helped launch the careers of OutKast and Future, had died at 52.

On Monday, Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54, posted a photo of Rico in the music studio with the caption, “Rest in peace @ricowadedf One of the greatest producers God ever created!

“You will be missed but your music will live forever! LOVE #dungeonfamily #atlanta.”

Rappers Fat Joe and Killer Mike, who originally shared the news of Rico’s passing, shared similar sentiments in the post’s comment section.

And while many fans did the same, the majority were surprised that Diddy left the ability to leave comments active.

“It’s diddy turning his comments on to check the temperature out,” one person speculated.

“He wanna see what ppl saying lol.”

“Spot on!” agreed a second.

“Testing the waters,” added another.

“He knew exactly what he was doing the comments on!” a fourth commenter claimed.

“He figured everybody’s attention been on Drake and them and not him for once,” mentioned a fifth.

“He had them on since his last post, he clearly doesn’t care about the public’s opinion of him anymore & rightfully so,” one fan argued.

Another disappointed commenter stated, “Rico Wade was an OG and a monument in Hip Hop for Atlanta. Regardless of how you feel about Diddy show some respect and save your jokes for better timing. Rest in peace Rico and long live Dungeon Family…”

STRESSED OUT

Earlier this month, Diddy was spotted outside his Miami mansion nearly one week after his homes were raided.

The photos, taken on Easter Sunday, showed the hip-hop mogul standing in the yard of his Miami Beach home while on the phone.

Diddy appeared stressed as he made gestures with his free hand as he walked around the pool at his Star Island mansion.

His outfit was kept casual with a white T-shirt, black sweatpants, and beige slide sandals.

The Last Night rapper seemed to be in a different mood than when he was photographed drinking wine, smoking, and dancing alone the day before.

He was seen walking shirtless around the yard of his Miami home once more, opting for only a pair of white shorts and a matching bucket hat.

RAIDED BY FEDS

The Diddy sighting came days after federal agents raided his Miami and Los Angeles homes.

Homeland Security searched both homes as part of a federal investigation into sex trafficking allegations.

While much of the information was left disclosed, a video showed the feds taking laptops and big boxes out of Diddy’s Miami mansion.

Footage obtained by TMZ also showed the rapper’s California property turned upside down in the raid.

Diddy’s attorney, Aaron Dyer, condemned the “unprecedented” raids and said the rapper was innocent.

“Yesterday, there was a gross overuse of military-level force as search warrants were executed at Mr. Combs’ residence,” Dyer said.

“There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated.

“This unprecedented ambush – paired with an advanced, coordinated media presence – leads to a premature rush to judgment of Mr. Combs and is nothing more than a witch hunt based on meritless accusations made in civil lawsuits.”

Dyer added that there had been “no finding of criminal or civil liability” with any of the allegations against Combs, saying the rapper will “continue to fight every single day to clear his name.”

BOMBSHELL LAWSUIT

The raids came after Diddy was met with various allegations, which included a bombshell $30 million lawsuit against him.

The lawsuit was filed by Combs’ former employee, Rodney “Lil Rod.”

Part of it claimed Combs’ ex-girlfriend, Miami rapper Yung Miami, was paid a monthly fee to provide sexual favors for Combs.

She denied the allegations on X, formally Twitter, writing, “Something the internet made up and yall ran with it!”

Recent lawsuits against Diddy

Diddy was hit with a wave of lawsuits in late 2023 and early 2024 with allegations of sex trafficking and sexual assault. He has denied all claims against him.

Cassie, Diddy’s longtime girlfriend, sued him in November 2023, claiming she endured “a cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking” until their relationship ended in 2018. Diddy and Cassie settled the suit the day after it was filed.
Diddy was hit with two more lawsuits a week later. Joi Dickerson accused Diddy of drugging and raping her and filming the attack when she was a 19-year-old college student in January 1991.
A second accuser in a separate lawsuit claimed that Diddy and another man sexually assaulted her and a friend in 1990 or 1991 then showed up at her apartment and beat her several days later.
Diddy was sued again in December by a woman who claimed he and two men gang-raped her in 2003 when she was 17 years old.
In February 2024, Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones, who helped produce Diddy’s most recent album, claimed that the mogul sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened him from September 2022 to November 2023 as they worked together.

“N****s don’t even pay that for child support why tf would a n***a ever pay me 250k for. FOR WHAT??” she continued.

Daphne Joy, the ex of 50 Cent, was also named in the lawsuit as being part of an alleged sex trafficking ring operated by Diddy.

Joy denied the allegations, writing on Instagram, “I am deeply hurt by the lies in Rodney Jones’ lawsuit.

“The claim that I am a sex worker is 100% false and character assassination.”

Rodney also claimed that Diddy sexually harassed, drugged, and threatened him while they worked together.

He alleged that he was told to recruit prostitutes and have sex with them for the artist’s pleasure.

The deadline to respond to the allegations has not yet come up and some of the defendants have moved to dismiss the case, per CNN.
