At this year’s Grammy Awards – which took place on Sunday, February 4 – the spotlight shone brightly on Blue Ivy Carter.
As the daughter of music icons Beyoncé Knowles-Carter and Jay-Z Carter, and has been a fixture in the public eye since she was a baby.
Blue Ivy captivated onlookers with her stunning presence, donning an elegant off-the-shoulder gown that accentuated her collarbones.
Paired with subtle makeup, silver accessories, and a delicate clutch, she radiated grace and poise alongside her mogul parents and fellow celebrities. Though, it’s hard to believe that the youngster is only 12 years old.
Many people seemed to take issue with the bold fashion choices, with critics taking to social media to express their disapproval of her dress, deeming it “not age-appropriate”.
Another user wrote: “I don’t normally comment on stuff like this but this is a 12 year old CHILD. A child does not need to look grown up with fake nails and makeup and cleavage. Let children be children please.”
A further netizen added: “Why is Blue’s cleavage showing?”
Though, there were others who loved the look. One person commented: “She is adorable and looks so poised,” while another said: “The dress is cute!!! I prefer this rather than baggy jeans and XL t-shirts!”
Blue Ivy’s appearance at the Grammys is not her first brush with the music industry’s elite. In fact, at the age of nine, she became the second-youngest Grammy winner for her writing credit on Beyoncé’s ‘Brown Skin Girl‘ music video.
Having said that, her parents have been adamant about allowing her to chart her own path in life. In a candid interview, her father Jay-Z spoke about the importance of providing a loving environment for their children and guiding them to discover their true selves.

“It’s easy for us, as human beings, to want our children to do certain things, but we have no idea. We’re just guides,” he told The Times.
At this year’s Grammys, Jay-Z was honored with the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award and, in his speech, said of the award: “I used to say this is a sippy cup for Blue, but Blue’s grown up now; she doesn’t take sippy cups, and she has her own Grammys.”
Blue Ivy’s involvement in her mother’s Renaissance tour and concert film further showcased her talents and determination. From joining as a dancer to offering insights on song selections and even stage design, she has made significant contributions to the project, showing that she’s confident and creative beyond her years.
