Singer Beyonce Knowles arrives on horseback to perform for her hometown crowd at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, March 18, 2004 in Houston, Texas.

Super Bowl 58 has come and gone. The big game not only brought excitement on the field, but also in the stands. The stars truly came out in full force at last night’s game! While Taylor Swift definitely got the most amount of screen-time! She was in attendance, cheering on her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, as he helped his team clinch their third championship since 2020 – Their second in two years, another massive star made waves at the event – Beyoncé.

Beyoncé Got Paid To Promote Her New Music

The superstar was accompanied by her husband Jay-Z. Not only was she shown a bunch during the game, Beyoncé was even displayed during the commercials. In a new Verizon campaign, Beyoncé attempted to “Break the internet” when she was told Verizon’s new network is too powerful. It became a challenge for her. She took it personally and began making big announcement after big announcement. Ultimately, the singer performed a show in space, but when she was told Verizon’s network never crashed, she told her team to “… drop the new music.”

Can’t B Broken (Extended)

But here’s the thing, her team in real life ACTUALLY released some new songs. It wasn’t just a funny Verizon commercial, it was an actual announcement that new music was out. Some fans were shocked to learn that the new music was country themed!

Beyoncé Has Released Two New Country Songs

The songs, titled “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages,” will be part of her upcoming country-themed album set to drop on March 29th.

TEXAS HOLD 'EM

But should fans really be surprised by this announcement? Because if you’ve been paying attention, Beyoncé has been masterfully leaving hints all over the place! Most recently, when she wore a large cowboy hat at the Grammy Awards. Perhaps, a not so subtle hint at the direction her musical sound is heading?

Beyoncé’s History With The Format

But Beyoncé’s history with the format goes deeper than that. Far deeper, actually. Beyoncé has had multiple performances at the Houston Rodeo. It’s a place that is near and dear to her heart, being a Houston native. A few years ago Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles-Lawson, even shared a clip on Facebook of her daughter riding a horse to her 2004 performance.

Beyoncé’s history with country music goes further than that. She did a collaboration with Sugarland at the 2007 American Music Awards. She also appeared alongside The Chicks (formerly The Dixie Chicks) at the 50th CMA’s. Reba, who sang the national anthem at this year’s Super Bowl even covered Beyoncé’s song “If I Were a Boy” in 2010.

So while some fans are amazed at the genre choice, perhaps they shouldn’t be. The new album is expected to release in March.
