RUMOR: Cowboys Predicted To Let Tony Pollard Walk In Free Agency & Draft Top College RB Prospect To Replace Him

The Dallas Cowboys have been tipped to make a major switch at the running back position for the 2024 season.
The Cowboys are coming off a disappointing campaign that’s ended in a first-round playoff exit and are poised for a bit of a shakeup, though Mike McCarthy is staying on as head coach.
There are rumors that they could allow Tony Pollard to leave in free agency after using the franchise tag on him in 2023. And ESPN’s Aaron Schatz is predicting that he will not be re-signed as Dallas will let him leave so they can trade up to sign either Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson or Michigan’s Blake Corum.
“The Cowboys will allow running back Tony Pollard to leave in free agency and then trade up to the top of the third round to take a new starting running back, perhaps TreVeyon Henderson (Ohio State) or Blake Corum (Michigan),” Schatz wrote as part of a column in which he makes predictions for each NFL team.
“There aren’t really any running backs projected to go in this year’s first two rounds, but the Cowboys will want to move up to make sure they get the guy they want.”
Corum is coming off a title-winning season with the Wolverines in which he rushed for 1,245 yards and 27 touchdowns on 258 carries. He added 16 receptions for 117 yards and another touchdown in the air.
He just might be available in the third round given his 5ft 8in frame.
Pollard, on the other hand, lacked the explosiveness he’s become known for this season. He rushed for less than 60 yards in 11 of the 18 games he played for the Cowboys this season.
