San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is back posting cryptic messages that suggest a looming trade is near.

The 49ers have a decision to make with Aiyuk, and it looks like it is one that he likes based on his latest reaction.

The disgruntled 49ers wide receiver posted a picture of him on his Instagram story on a FaceTime call with the caption, “Brother said we got six days and it’s fireworks.”

Aiyuk seems to be pointing to next week’s NFL Draft and suggesting a blockbuster trade is in the works.

It seems increasingly unlikely that Brandon Aiyuk will play for the 49ers next season, and the team that has been most mentioned for his services is the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk reported that on Monday, the Pittsburgh Steelers tried trading for Aiyuk but were told the 49ers had no interest in trading their star receiver. Things like that can quickly change should the Steelers sweeten a deal to get the 49ers to bite.

Brandon Aiyuk is set to play the 2024 season on his fifth-year option and will earn around $14 million.

However, Aiyuk has clarified that he is not interested in playing on his fifth-year option and desperately wants a long-term extension before he hits the field in 2024. Spotrac projects a new extension would earn him around $25 million per season over four years, making him the fifth-highest-paid wide receiver in the NFL.

Brandon Aiyuk wants a contract extension that will pay him more than $25 million per season and make him one of the highest-paid wide receivers, and he does not care if it comes from the 49ers or another team in a trade.

If the 49ers are asking for a king’s ransom, then he will have no choice but to play unless he wants to take it a step further and sit out games.
