Jake Paul is set to fight Mike Tyson this summer in what fans in the boxing community may see as a polarizing match. The age disparity between the two combatants is obvious, as The Problem Child is 30 years younger than his opponent, who was one of the most feared boxers in the sport.

Jake Paul offers another contradicting update on the fight rules with his highly anticipated boxing match against Mike Tyson.
While the numbers are unclear at this time, both fighters will be in for a big pay-day. Paul once predicted on The Journey Podcast that a fight between himself and Iron Mike would be a $300 million event.

Whether you are a boxing fan or not, you probably have heard of Tyson’s name at some point. The 57-year-old was known inside the ring as a relentless striker with devastating punch power. Over his professional career, Iron Mike has gone 50-6-2. Of his wins, a whopping 78.6 percent of them resulted in a knockout.
However, Tyson has appeared in just one boxing match in the past 19 years. That only fight was an exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. in 2020, where the fight was scored a split draw. However, Tyson did not look out of place, as he out-landed Jones with punches 67-37.
Mike Tyson came from a very troubled childhood. Thankfully, he overcame that to become one of the best boxers of all time.
Before then, Tyson was the boxing Heavyweight champion from 1987-1990. The Brooklyn, New York native successfully defended his title ten times. Some of his biggest wins were against Trevor Berbick, Michael Spinks, and Larry Holmes.
Meanwhile, Paul has only been boxing professionally for a few years. Before becoming a fighter, the 27-year-old was a prominent YouTuber and a social media star. Paul’s following has fascinated younger fans as he transitioned into boxing. While some questioned if he’d only fight other big social media names like in his first amateur bout against Deji Olatunji, Paul has stepped up his competition.
Paul’s brand was able to score him paydays against big names in sports, which started with former UFC fighter Ben Askren, who he impressively knocked out in the first round. The Problem Child was then able to earn fights against legends in the sport, including Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz, and Tyron Woodley twice. He won all three of those matches, including the second tilt against Woodley, where he knocked out the former UFC Welterweight champion cold.
In his professional career, Paul to date is 9-1. His only loss was against Tommy Fury in 2023, an undefeated boxer and the brother of Heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. But The Problem Child proved that he could hang with Tommy and almost won the fight after scoring a late knockdown in the match. While a rematch in the future between the two is possible, Paul plans to have the world watching when he faces Tyson next.
Tyson vs. Paul Prediction: Fight Goes the Distance
Age And Activity Favors Paul
Mandatory Credit: USAToday Sports Tyson is a +300 underdog.
Paul will not claim victory by knockout but will be the obvious winner.
This is an interesting fight to pick – given the the age gap the what both opponents have done over their careers. But keep in mind that judges won’t score the fight, as it’s an exhibition match. A clear winner can be determined by knockout, however. Given Paul’s age and how active he’s been recently in boxing (10 fights since 2020), it’s easy to see why oddsmakers lean towards The Problem Child. Tyson is a +300 underdog, according to preliminary odds from DraftKings Sportsbook.
But counting Tyson out would be foolish given his fierce knockout power. Also, for his age, Iron Mike looks like he’s in great shape, still. Take a look at some training footage posted in 2023.
We predict that Iron Mike will have his moments and land a few haymakers on Paul. However, The Problem Child will be just a step ahead in the fight with his activity and out-land Tyson. We expect no knockouts or stoppages – but Paul will be the obvious winner.
Carl Froch takes issue with Canelo Alvarez criticizing Mike Tyson.
Also, note that some of the rules for the fight are still under review, including 16-ounce gloves and two-minute rounds. But the two are set to face each other on July 20 at AT&T Stadium and Netflix users will be available to watch it for free with their subscription.
