Steve Kerr makes VORACIOUS claims to still be part of playoffs DESPITE losing streak

‘Confident’ Steve Kerr believes the Warriors could make a deep playoff run if they end up in the play-in tournament citing Miami’s example

Steve Kerr wants his Golden State Warriors to learn from Miami Heat’s run to NBA Finals from play in spots last year

The Golden State Warriors are not having the best of seasons. Currently lying in 10th in the Western Conference, they have a tough task to try and climb the playoff ladder. However, head coach Steve Kerr does not seem too troubled by the seeding.

Steve Kerr cited the Miami Heat’s run from the play-in spots to the NBA Finals last season as an example of what could happen. He was speaking on 95.7 The Game radio show.

When asked about the motivation to push for a deep playoff run from these positions, Kerr said:

I will remind the guys, Miami made the Finals from that spot a year ago. The Lakers made the Conference Finals from that spot...So, we have our goals in front of us. Even though it's been an uneven season, with a lot of ups and downs, I will believe until the season is 100% finished. I will believe in our ability to beat anybody and as long as we have that, we got a shot.

The Golden State Warriors head coach suggests when the time comes, the motivation will follow. His players have been through enough playoff series to know when to turn on the afterburners.

These rounds of questions have been directed at the team recently. Their loss to the New York Knicks put a dampener on their surge up the playoff ladder. Stephen Curry mentioned that the team’s inconsistent play will make it difficult for them to go far into the playoffs.

It has also put a lid on their chances of reaching the 6th seed, which was on their target list a few weeks back. However, Kerr cited the Miami Heat‘s run to the NBA Finals last season as an example of what a motivated team can do when the battle begins.

Steve Kerr feels Golden State Warriors can challenge for another title

The Golden State Warriors are synonymous with perennial title challengers. Despite their window closing, they still possess the ability to go for another run. Now with their trio of superstars older, it might seem more difficult. The play in seedings will only make it tougher, as they have to win more games. Kerr acknowledged in the interview that his players are disappointed thinking about the fatigue they will have to endure.

But that is where he gave the examples of the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers. Two teams, who are not that young, started their post-season journeys in the play-in spots. Both made the Conference Finals, the Heat eventually going to the NBA Finals. Ironically, the Denver Nuggets stopped both of these teams’ chances.

But it is a possibility. Steve Kerr knows what can happen when there is a will. And as he mentioned, he will cite these two examples to his players to give them the right amount of motivation.
