Colin Farrell returns as Oz Cobb in a new The Penguin trailer, giving a fresh look at the first DC TV spinoff show in The Batman universe. While The Batman – Part II was pushed back to October 2026, Matt Reeves’ DC franchise is getting ready to expand this year. Featuring Farrell once again as the iconic Gotham City villain, The Penguin will pick up only days after the events of The Batman, as his spinoff show fleshes out this universe before the sequel happens.

The Penguin TV show was one of several series to be promoted recently at the Series Mania TV festival in Lille, France, as Warner Bros. Discovery is getting ready to rebrand HBO Max into Max in selected countries in Europe. Luckily, Max has made the new The Penguin trailer available online, showcasing more of the upcoming The Batman spinoff show, arriving this year. Check it out below:

The Penguin trailer features Oz talking to someone off-screen about his upbringing while mentioning a gangster named Rex Calabrese, who is from the comics and was Selina Kyle’s father before abandoning her. As Oz is telling the story about Rex, The Penguin trailer gives a lot of glimpses of Gotham City since the events of The Batman movie ending. Whoever Oz is speaking to, the villain makes it clear he wants to have an impact the way Rex did throughout his life.

The footage makes it clear that Oz is looking for his path to power in the Gotham City criminal underworld.

Throughout The Penguin trailer, the teaser gives a better idea of some of the conflicts Oz will be dealing with, including a first look at Clancy Brown as DC Comics’ Salvatore Maroni, who is seemingly in jail. Michael Kelly’s Johnny Vitti also appears to be someone who may not survive The Penguin TV show, as Oz can be seen trying to stab him. Additionally, The Penguin teaser gives brief glimpses of other cast members, including Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone and Rhenzy Feliz’s mystery character. The footage makes it clear that Oz is looking for his path to power in the Gotham City criminal underworld.

It will be fascinating to see this world through Oz’s eyes, as there has never really been a DC TV show from the perspective of a Batman villain, though Gotham came close. With Farrell’s character also being one of the standouts from The Batman, it will be exciting to follow the continuing development of Oz. Hopefully, Max will announce The Penguin premiere date sometime soon, as the world gets ready to revisit Reeves’ The Batman universe.
