Critics praised Johnson’s performance as the Greek demigod, along with the movie’s action sequences. However, the process behind all this was quite painful for the actor, as he recently shared that he filmed the movie while suffering a serious pelvis injury.

Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock, suffered a critical pelvis injury during his match with The Peacemaker star John Cena at WrestleMania 29. The actor recalled the incident during his recent appearance on the talk show The Pat McAfee Show.

When asked about the most incredible moments from his wrestling career, the actor named the first and the last Wrestlemania he headlined. He further went on to recall his last match with John Cena, explaining that he was going to crown his fellow wrestling star as “Champion.”

The Black Adam star shared that he felt a crack soon after the match started, which he believed was through a fracture at first. Although he knew something had happened to him, he still continued further into the match for almost half an hour, all while feeling numb from the waist down. And things took a more precarious turn after his big slam while concluding the match.

“I feel me, just up, all upper body go wound up completely tearing my abdomen what in three places,” he recalled. It resulted in three emergency hernia surgeries for the actor. However, the initial crack he felt during the match was even more critical, and the actor shared that he filmed Hercules with that injury.

Further talking about his last Wrestlemania with John Cena, Dwayne Johnson shared the initial crack he felt in his body actually resulted from the tearing of his pelvis. The talk show host was shocked as the Hollywood star described that he “tore the top of my quad and my adductor from my pelvis.”

The whole panel at the show, along with the show host Pat McAfee, were astounded to learn that The Rock endured it all for 25 minutes. However, he was even more shocked when the actor explained that he did not get the surgery done for his pelvis injury as he had to start filming Brett Ratner’s 2014 film, Hercules.

“I did triple hernia surgery emergency surgery, but the tearing the quad of my pelvis, I had to go shoot Hercules, so I actually shot that movie hurt. I didn’t do surgery.”

Surprised that Johnson filmed the movie with a torn pelvis, McAfee said, “You are a psycho.” The Jumanji star has earlier shared that he decided not to go through with the surgery, hoping that the “tendons would just scar tissue up.” He has also shared that the injury he sustained during Wrestlemania 29 is also the reason why he doesn’t have perfect abs.

Hercules is available on Prime Video.
