The Denver Broncos gave up little in return as they swapped late-round NFL draft picks with the New York Jets to acquire quarterback Zach Wilson.

Almost exactly three years after selecting him as No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft, the New York Jets finally parted ways with the failed experiment that is Zach Wilson.

The only person more excited about Wilson’s trade to the Broncos than the QB himself might just be his current girlfriend.

Hours after his highly anticipated departure from the Jets, Zach Wilson’s girlfriend, Nicolette Dellanno, took to her Instagram story to post the NFL graphic of him being traded while adding three orange heart emojis.

To acquire Wilson, the Broncos swapped late-round picks with the Jets, sending them their sixth-round pick in exchange for the quarterback and one of the Jets’ seventh-rounders.

As a member of the New York Jets, the 24-year-old compiled 33 starts in his three years, finishing with a 12-21 record. The writing of his tenure was already on the wall after the team traded for four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers, but Rodgers’ Week 1 injury forced New York to put Wilson back into the lineup.

One of his best and most memorable games of the 2023 season came against the Chiefs at Metlife Stadium when he threw for 245 yards and two touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs. It would still end in a loss, via ESPN.com.

It is not a secret that Zach Wilson struggled playing for the Jets. He more than struggled with being consistently good, as terrible play saw him being benched multiple times over the past two seasons.

Now, Wilson has a chance to reinvent himself and won’t have the world’s media capital following behind him.

With the current QB room in Denver, it likely won’t take long until he gets his chance.
